"We Got Motivated During the Holiday Break" (連休中にやる気を出した, Renkyūchū ni Yaruki o Dashita^?) is the third episode of Non Non Biyori Repeat.

Summary

Renge is stunned by the laziness of the breakfast which Kazuho prepares for her. The schoolkids spend the day writing exams. Natsumi gets Komari to give her some last-minute help. With the girls coming over to study, Renge coaches Kazuho on being a better teacher.

Notes

• The prank Natsumi meant to do by asking Hotaru to say "ピザ" (piza, "pizza") ten times is like this:
  1. Natsumi asks Hotaru to say "ピザ" (piza) ten times.
  2. Hotaru says it ten times.
  3. Natsumi asks Hotaru, "What's this here?" pointing to her elbow (in Japanese ひじ/肘 "hiji").
  4. Hotaru mistakenly answers, "ひざ" (膝, hiza, "knee").

  This is because the sound of "hiza" and "hiji" are slightly similar while "piza" and "hiza" are more alike than them. This trick is well known among Japanese people and there are several word games probably derived from it as well.

  Natsumi's prank, however, went wrong because she carelessly pointed to her knee, not her elbow.
